Sashiko Cushion Cover - Boro
Handstitched using repurposed textiles, the Sashiko Cushion Cover has a subtle yet intricate embroidered pattern. The Boro pattern lovingly recreates the classic indigo patchwork style that's been used for more than a century. True to the nature of 'boro' repair, each cushion cover is slightly different due to the recycled fabric available to the artist. Explore other cushion covers in the following styles as well: Line, Wave, Stripe, and Patchwork.
We felt particularly drawn to the handmade pillow covers by Mr. Akiyama, which all embodied a sense of dynamism and playfulness. This traditional technique of sashiko stitching, dating back to the 17th century, was often used to reinforce garments and protect the wearer from the cold.
